2011Jason Davis, Penn-Trafford High School, $500 For Soldiers and Sailors Footlocker Speaker program. Local veterans will come to the high school on Veterans Day to speak to the students and present war-era artifacts.
Steve Vinton, Penn-Trafford High School, $845 For Smith Victor Studio Lighting Kit to be used in all levels of Video class to teach and demonstrate proper lighting techniques.
Dave Spudy, Sunrise Estates Elementary School, $525 For 15 Boogie Boards (portable electronic writing tablets) to facilitate hands-on interaction by students at their desks. This technology works in tandem with the SMART board and SMART
slate technologies in the classroom. The foundation awarded 10 Boogie Boards to this classroom in 2010. Charles Gates and Ryan Tucek, Penn-Trafford High School, $1,500 For a full-dome movie for the newly refurbished
planetarium within the high school. Viewings are
available to all district classes, as well as the
community. Lynn Eckberg, Stacy Lamanna, Brandy Lockwood & Nicole Popovich; Penn-Trafford Middle School; $1,400 For a Flip Video Mobile Lab Kit that will allow this collaborative group
of teachers to enhance the production of both individual and group
projects with a public speaking focus. The flip cameras awarded in 2010 through the foundation.Jamie Shaffer, Trafford Elementary School $1,050 For three SMART Slates to be incorporated into everyday lessons,
especially the math curriculum. These wireless handheld boards allow
students to interact with the SMART board already in use in the
classrooms.Kellie Walker, Trafford Middle School, $1,500 For three Proform ZT3 treadmills to enhance the physical education curriculum on the
benefits of personal fitness and lifetime goal setting through
individualized walk/run goals.Kathleen Scharf, Harrison Park and Level Green Elementary Schools, $300 For the "Focus on Fluency" program to improve disfluency and stuttering in students receiving speech therapy.
